Food is a theme that is relatively new to cultural theory, and because a more precise look at the development of this young discourse would overreach the intended scope of this article, a few words will have to suffice to characterize this emerging discipline in order to determine the basic principles of a Philosophy of Food, or ›Gastrosophy‹.
